Meet our Instagram Cats of the Month, Pixie and Rockie! This pair may be new to social media but they’re quickly gaining a loyal following. We caught up with them for an exclusive interview, which you can read below. And when you’re done be sure to check them out on Instagram for more!
Cats vs Cancer: So Pixie and Rockie, even though you are new to Instagram you seem to be generating a loyal following. What’s that newfound fame like?
Rockie: I give it two paws up! Every time I see another like or comment on a picture, it makes me purr.
Pixie: Meow, my favorite part though is when other cats with cancer message us to say we cheer them up and make them feel better. That really gets me purring.
CVC: Are you two BFF’s or more than that?
Rockie: I’m going to purr the fifth on that one.
Pixie: I never kiss and meow. Next question.
CVC: Do your humans ever get jealous that you two are so close?
Rockie: Since we’re a different species they don’t get jealous. But if a human woman flirts with Dad… can you say cat fight?
Pixie: Yeah, Mom’s claws will really come out then. But with us, they encourage our love.
CVC: Pixie, how has it been having someone like Rockie to look after you?
Pixie: It’s really pawsome overall. I’ve had a lot of health problems this year. His love and support have helped me through some purrty tough days. I love him so much. But we have had to set some boundaries. At one point he was watching me every time I went in the litter box. Is that normal? I know he wants to protect me, but sometimes a cat needs her space.
CVC: What’s the key to posing for a good photo for Instagram?
Rockie: Nothing! We’re cats, which means every picture of us will automatically be pawsome.
Pixie: Kitto to that.
CVC: Any advice for other young cats out there looking to get started on Instagram?
Pixie: Thank mew for calling us young. I just celebrated my 13th birthday.
Rockie: Our advice is to ask your people to go meet cats that are legit famous and post pictures of those cats for more likes. Kidding! But seriously, our most liked picture right now is from when our Mom and Dad saw Lil’ Bub, meowhaha.
Pixie: Really though, if you’re starting an account, consistency is key. Find a voice and stick with it. Post every day. Engage with your followers regularly.
Rockie: Yeah, engage with your followers. Like really communicate with them. Don’t just always use emojis alone. And have fun with it!
CVC: What else would you like the Cats vs Cancer audience to know about you?
Pixie: My nickname is Pickle but I don’t know why.
Rockie: Sometimes I do catnip and pass out.
