We are thrilled to announce Colorectal Cancer Alliance as our charity partner for the months of May and June! That means for the next two months, every cat video you watch here on our site, or direct donation you make via our “donate meow” page, helps us raise money in support of their mission to provide support for patients and families, caregivers, and survivors; to raise awareness of preventative measures; and inspire efforts to fund critical research.
The Pillars of the Colorectal Cancer Alliance include patient support, prevention and research.
Their patient empowerment team provides hope and support to patients, families, caregivers and survivors by providing them the latest information, while pointing them to expert resources and cutting-edge tools. The Colorectal Cancer Alliance strives to deliver the level of support patients need to become whole again.
Prevention:
Screening is the number one way to reduce the risk for this unique cancer. The Colorectal Cancer Alliance believes it’s important for all of us to take charge of our health by knowing family history, understanding risk factors, eating a balanced diet, exercising, limiting alcohol use, and never smoking.
Research:
Their research agenda includes advancing biomarker research, understanding why those under 50 are increasingly diagnosed with colon cancer, decreasing late-state diagnosis of high-risk populations, closing the referral gap for screening and diagnostic testing, and advancing long-term survivorship psychosocial concerns.
