Meet Sophie, a fun loving Boston rescue kitty! Here’s 10 facts about this adorable bundle of fur:
1. My pink nose changes color throughout the day. Sometimes it’s very light pink and sometimes it deep pink depending on my mood and temperature.
2. I love licking feathers, chasing balls, and going outside for as long as you’ll let me.
3. No matter what I’m doing (even sleeping), if mom yells “Sophie wanna go outside”, I sprint at top speed to her and sit to get my harness put on.
4. I clean myself a lot and don’t need brushing or anything.
5. I’m way smaller than my fluff lets you think. I’m only 7.9 lbs. and super soft like a bunny.
6. My original name was Blossom, but mom thought I was too pretty for an 80’s sitcom name.
7. I get tucked in my bed each night and sleep the whole night like a tiny human.
8. I love non stop pats and head butts but I won’t sit on your lap.
9. I love tuna everything.
10. I’m very gentle and sweet and never cry or scratch.
And here’s Sophie’s adoption story as told by her owners:
We adopted Sophie from The Animal Rescue League of Boston back in January of 2014. We had recently lost our beloved 17 year old cat, and our house and hearts were too empty. That’s when we decided to head over to the shelter to see who was looking for a home. We circled through a few times, and then out of nowhere stood this little ball of black and white fluff at the front of her cage. She was mewing over and over directly to me, waiting for me to get to her. I knew the minute I saw her sweet face she was going to be the newest member of our family. We scooped her up to meet her and saw how excited and affectionate she was and immediately started the paperwork.
It was then that we found out this poor baby had a rough start in life. She had been pulled from a semi hoarding situation with lots of other animals stacked in crates. She had been waiting for a home for two months throughout the entire holiday season. We were even more thankful then, we had found her. Unfortunately within 24 hrs of being home she wound up with double eye infections that lasted 3 months, alongside an upper respiratory infection. Although a little tough for her, she quickly realized she was our baby and trusted us.
She has been the best thing to come into our lives. She is such a happy and sweet cat, and has so much energy and love to give each day. We have so much fun coming up with new games to entertain her with. She has even learned to take walks on a leash with us so she can enjoy the fresh air and bird watch. She’s even fearless throughout the New England snow! We love our little shadow and are so happy she can fully enjoy life now and know she has a forever home.
