We are thrilled to announce The Ovarian Cancer Symptom Awareness Organization as our charity partner for the month of April! That means for the entire month, every cat video you watch here on our site, or direct donation you make via our “donate meow” page, helps us raise money in support of their mission.
The Ovarian Cancer Symptom Awareness Organization (OCSA) works to expand public awareness of the symptoms of ovarian cancer in an effort to contribute to the early detection of this deadly disease, and by doing so, save lives. According to the American Cancer Society, when ovarian cancer is diagnosed and treated in its earliest stages, the survival rate is over 90%.
OCSA also emphasizes a connection between pets and their owners, and champions the human/animal healing experience by:
Presenting information about the symptoms of ovarian cancer to groups of veterinary students and those working within the veterinary professions.
Creating and distributing materials that inform readers of the silent symptoms of ovarian cancer and the positive effects of the human/animal bond.
Organizing dog and cat friendly events that enable them to get the word out about this deadly disease while enhancing the human/animal healing experience.
In 2013, OCSA entered into a partnership with Penn Vet Working Dog Center at the University of Pennsylvania and sponsored Ohlin, an ovarian cancer sniffing dog who NOSE about ovarian cancer.
